Tragedy Strikes!
On May 29th, 2014, I was standing on my front lawn talking to a friend on my cell phone, when a police cruiser stopped at the curb in front of our home. I ended my call and went to meet the officer in our driveway. It was there that he told me that my 20 year-old son, Chase, had been killed in a drug-related car crash. I was crushed! I loved Chase deeply.  In that moment, my life changed. I vowed that I would not let Chase's memory fade, and that somehow out of this tragedy, with God's help, I would create something positive.
"The solution to the opioid crisis is in first understanding the root causes."

Chapter 1: The Creation
In the months that followed Chase's death, I began to write. On November of 2015, I released my first book, "A Life Half Lived" A True Story of Love, Addiction, Tragedy, and Hope. This is Chase's life story. I began to speak in churches, schools, and anywhere else I could get an audience about the dangers of drug abuse. In December of 2017, I released the short film about Chase's life titled, "Deadly Influences" that I produced with the help of a few good friends.

Chase's story through speeches, book, and film has been a life-changer for a lot of people. However, I want to do more. I have been on a journey to find solutions to the opioid epidemic and in general, the drug abuse problem. On this journey, I've met a lot of brilliant people from all walks of life - pediatricians, ER doctors, pharmacists, psychiatrists, and other parents whose children have died as a result of drug abuse.  I've also asked teens and young adults why they use drugs and what their solutions are.  I invite you to join me on my journey and learn with me as I look for solutions and work to save lives.
"He is a passionate and high energy speaker - the type of speaker that students rush up to at the end to continue the conversation.  Don’t pass up the opportunity to invite Darryl Rodgers to speak at your event."

Chapter 2: The Beginning
I am working on a couple of new books right now that will begin to tackle some of the issues related to the drug abuse crisis.  One of those  books is designed to motivate and guide teenagers to a life of success, fulfillment, and happiness.  The other book I'm working on is about teaching parents how to drug-proof their children.  Obviously there are no guarantees, but you can do things as parents that will put the odds in your favor for a good outcome.

I am also planning to begin a Facebook Live talk show that I will broadcast weekly.  I will be interviewing some of the experts I've met on this show.  You will want to follow me on Facebook so you will be able to get valuable information there about how to drug-proof your children.
"We were touched by his sincerity and eloquence so much so that we invited him back a second time to spearhead a youth event for the whole county." Maggie Andre -  Associate Pastor of Music and Worship, Grove Park Baptist Church, Clinton, NC
